My name is Simran Villing, and I am 22 years old. I was born in British Columbia, but soon after moved to Edmonton. For the past 20 years I have laid the foundations for the rest of my life in this city, in particular Ward I, which I am proud to call my home. In addition to successfully running a towing company, I am currently furthering my education at NAIT with a focus on Digital Media and Information Technology.
I am a strong believer in giving back to a community that has given me so much in return. That’s why I have dedicated my time volunteering extensively within the community. From coaching youth soccer camps and raising awareness for mental health, to volunteering for amazing organizations such as Breaking the Silence and Punjab United Sports Heritage Association. The deep roots I have within my community have led me on this journey to pursue a better education system for our leaders of tomorrow.
I believe there are very few things that matter more than a strong public education system. Education is a community endeavour, and I am passionate about bringing people together, listening to diverse perspectives, and working with others to make our education system a safe and inclusive space for all. With my background and education, combined with my various roles throughout the community, I believe I have the prowess to be an effective and capable school trustee.
